Green Arbor Program

The Schuyler County Soil and Water Conservation District has provided residents of Schuyler County with conservation assistance for the past 65 years. One program that has been successfully offered is our annual “Green Arbor Program”. Through this program we have provided over 750,000 low cost trees and shrubs for conservation plantings.

The SWCD offers a wide selection of evergreen trees, deciduous trees and shrubs, groundcovers and wildflower seed packets. Also offered are fertilizer tablets and bluebird houses. The trees are bare root seedlings and transplants suitable for planting as Christmas trees, screens, wildlife habitat, timber, windbreaks, erosion control and other conservation purposes. The evergreen seedlings are sold in bundles of 25 trees while the evergreen transplants and the deciduous trees and shrubs are sold in bundles of 10.

The program runs from January to April with tree pickup at the SWCD facility behind the Rural Urban Center in Montour Falls in early April. Order forms are available at many post offices, convenience stores, municipal offices and other businesses around Schuyler County beginning in mid January or on this website.

Download the order form, take advantage of the “Green Arbor Program”, and plant some trees to increase the value of your property and help protect and improve the environment. For more information on the plants available through our program, visit USDA Plants Database website or Meadowview Nursery website.
