The Schuyler County Probation Department, in operation for well over 50 years, has as its primary objectives the safety of the citizens and reintegration of the offender back into the community.

The Department provides an array of services to the public including Juvenile Delinquent and PINS (Persons in Need of Supervision) Intake services; pre-plea, pre-sentence, and pre-disposition investigation services for the courts of the county (Family, County, and the Justice courts); Probation as well as Diversion supervision of the clientele; Pre-Trial Release services; as well as operate a Community Service Program.  These latter two programs are under contract with the State of New York. 

The Department relies on State Aid as well as count funding for the majority of its programs.  The pre-trial and community service programs are funded at a higher level of State Aid.  We also rely on fees, including DWI fees of $10 - $30 per month paid by the client convicted of that offense; Electronic Home Monitoring fees imposed on clients under this sanction; and fees we are able to collect imposed on offenders as part of a bail arrangement.

The Department is currently staffed by a Director, four Probation Officers, a part-time Community Service Coordinator (Probation Assistant), and two clerical staff members.
