Employment Services

All applicants and recipients of Temporary Assistance and Food Stamps must participate in work activities if they are not already working the required amount of time. The employment rules are required by the Department of Labor unless you are exempt. The work activities may be job search or working on the Mobile Work Crew. The Mobile Work Crew works four days a week on projects around the county for villages, towns, and not for profit business. The members of the work crew complete various types of work under supervision of an experienced construction supervisor. The object is to teach skills that can be useful in finding full time employment.

Who is exempt from work requirements?

  • 60 years of age or older
  • Under 16 and up to 19 if you are attending high school full time
  • Needed in the household to care for a disabled adult or child
  • Pregnant – beginning 30 days prior to delivery
  • Parent or caretaker relative of a child under 12 months for up to 3 months
  • Work limited individuals with a medical diagnosis that limits their ability to work

You may also be eligible for additional assistance with transportation or other employment expenses or training. Ask your worker.
