WELCOME TO THE SCHUYLER COUNTY LEGISLATURE

Mission Statement

The Schuyler County Legislature is the policy-making and appropriating body of County Government .  It is comprised of eight part-time legislators, who are elected from three districts and serve four-year staggered terms.  These men and women who represent you in the Legislature are responsible for developing the laws and policies that affect the lives of a population of 18,343.  Each legislator brings their own perspective and special expertise from his or her own profession.  The Legislature's mission is to provide quality services, direction, leadership and specific initiatives to ensure the effective and efficient development and administration of county services, policies, and laws to all citizens in the most cost effective manner.

LEGISLATIVE OFFICE

 Mission Statement

The Clerk and Deputy Clerk of the Legislature serve as the administrative arm of the County Legislature and are the official link to all other departments in the County and the constituency at large.  The staff assists the Legislature with its planning and services related to the County's needs including: adopting resolutions and local laws, establishing and enforcing policies, auditing county bills, confirming appointments, assisting citizens in addressing local concerns and providing information and required notices to the public on county services and meetings. 

Chairman of the Legislature

Dennis A. Fagan is the Chairman of the Legislature. The Chairman is appointed by his/her peers during the Organizational meeting of the Legislature, for a term of one-year which is held every year in January. The Chairman presides at all meetings of the County Legislature, is an ex-officio member of all committees of the Legislature and is considered the chief elected official of the County for the general affairs and conduct of County business.

Clerk to the Legislature

Stacy B. Husted is appointed by the Legislature for a term of four-years. There are a wide variety of duties and responsibilities ranging from clerical to representing the Legislature as a Public Official. She is also appointed as the County Auditor for a four-year term.

Deputy Clerk of the Legislature

Jamee L. Mack is appointed by the Clerk to the Legislature for a term of four-years. She assists the Clerk with all Legislative duties.
