Fraud and Recovery

  • Fraud insures that recipients who are receiving benefits do so in a lawful manner.
  • The fraud unit uses the Front End Detection (FEDS) process which stops a recipient from receiving benefits prior to eligibility being granted.

  • This unit represents the agency at fair hearings for APS, Child Care, SNAP, HEAP, MA and/or TA

  • Recovery is a collection authorized by Social Services Law from, or on behalf of, a recipient or recipient's estate.
  • The unit is responsible for resource recovery in the case of overpayment, fraud or liens.
